4 Illicit liquor Breweries in the South raided up by Excise

The officers of Tangalle Excise Station recently succeeded in taking into custody a quantity of illicit liquor worth nearly Rs. 500,000 after rounding up four large scale illicit liquor breweries which had been distributing illicit liquor to a number of areas in the southern region.
Mr. Dheera  Gunasekara , the Officer in charge of Tangalle Excise Station said  seven restaurants selling beer without license were also raided.

16 suspects, who had been giving leadership for this illicit liquor business, too were taken into custody by the Excise Officers.

A Quantity of 17000 mille litters of illicit liquor  580,000 mille liters of Goda, 15 barrels including a quantity of copper rolls were detected thereby Excise Officers. These operations were conducted at Tangalle, Hakuruweala, Walasmulla, Agunakolapalasse and Puswewa Area.

These suspected to be produced before the Magistrates of Tangalle, Walasmulla and Hambantota.

On the advice and supervision of Mr. B.A.Dayaratna the Assistant Commissioner of Excise Southern Province and the Superintendent of Excise Mr. Vijitha Gamanayake  led by officers in charge  Mr. Dheera Gunasekara, Inspector H.K. Desaapriya, Excise Guards Samaranayaka, Arnayaka, Jayawardena, Indika, Harsha, Wanigasekara and Excise Driver Palihawadana involved on the raid.
